How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
I grew up in a home and church where the Gospel was not taught. By God’s grace, by the time 6th grade came, I was beginning to develop questions about what I believed and why I believed it. In 7th grade, I transitioned to public school, where God allowed me to become friends with Bible-believing Christians. One of these friends, Lee Jorgenson, took me under his wing and taught me the true Gospel. Over the next year and a half, Lee and his family ministered to me in a variety of ways before inviting me to a Christian drama called Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames. This drama depicted that it was not enough to simply be a “good” person. It taught that there must be a relationship with Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord. At the end of the drama, I responded to the work of God in my life and committed my life to Christ. As an act of obedience and to publicly demonstrate my relationship with Christ, I was baptized by immersion several years later in 2007. Since recognizing my need for Jesus, I have been striving to grow in my relationship with and knowledge of God. Over the years, he has done a great work of refining me, and I pray that he will continue to do so until the day he returns or calls me home!
What I do at Harvest
I have the privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor as well as one of our biblical counselors. My role is focused on teaching and preaching the Word of God in a variety of contexts within the church and establishing a culture of prayer and discipleship. I desire to see our church family grow in their love for God and want to know Him more and more every day! My aim is to model for our church the kind of Christian that God has called us to be – teachable, humble, servant-hearted, and bold in the faith.
Why I do what I do at Harvest
Because Jesus bled and died for me! I want to obey his command to go and make disciples of all nations! I have truly found that there is no greater joy than living your life in service to the King of kings and Lord of lords. It has been an honor to serve the Lord at Harvest since coming here in December of 2017. I am so excited for the good work that he is doing in our church family, and I anticipate how he will continue to grow us into spiritual maturity!
What I do in my spare time
I love to spend time with my wife, Micaela, and seven kids, Anniston, Eden, Haddyn, Noelle, Megan, Gwen & Jude (twins!). If you’re counting, that’s 6 daughters and 1 son. We homeschool our kiddos and love to get them out into God’s creation to explore. I like to learn new skills, often through tackling DIY projects in our home. I am also an avid reader and enjoy working out, playing with my kids, shooting guns, or all sorts of nerdier hobbies like board or card games, and, occasionally, video games. I love to learn new things, so I often dive into a new hobby to learn more about God’s wonderful creation!
